We have not had great luck in the chickie department this summer. There was a misstep, a raccoon, and a sickness--so we have gone from seven to four babies.

There has been some heart break in our house over the lost little ones (mostly on my part), and we are loving the babies that we do have. I never thought that owning chickens would come with tears, but here we are, fuddling our way through our first year of owning chickens. Let's hope it is mostly drama-free from here on out.

Oh, I hate to hear that. We've lost a few over the yrs, though, none to predators, thankfully. Yes, let's hope the drama is over and you can just get to enjoying fresh eggs before too long!
Those are adorable baby chicks! I hope the remaining chicks are able to grow healthy and strong!
Sweet little chicks. I'm sorry to hear it's been a tumultuous ride so far, I hope they grow good and strong!
Buff Orpingtons are our favorite breed. :)
Oh I'm sorry to hear of your chicken losses- we sure understand what that is all about! You're lucky with the raccoon that it wasn't all of them, my goodness!
They're so sweet and fluffy--hope this go-round goes better!
Oh, I hope it's drama-free from here on out, too! It would be hard not to become attached to those little chicks. Very sweet.
